St. John’s has an active and exciting Children’s Ministry with Sunday morning classes for all ages at 9:00AM and other events and programs as well. The list below will help you and your kids discover all the places where they can fit in as part of the family here at St. John’s. Here at St. John’s, our children’s ministry is all about Transforming kids into Christians who impact the world.

FUSE

FUSE is our age group for nursery aged children up through 3 year-olds. In FUSE we lay the Foundation Using Stories from Eternity, as we focus on reading and teaching the amazing stories of God’s Word. FUSE meets Sunday mornings in the nursery.

SPARC

SPARC incorporates children age 4 up through Kindergarten. SPARC continues to focus on the story of God but uses more music and encourages a focus on personal prayer to keep the kids Singing, Praying and Always Relying on Christ. SPARC meets on Sunday mornings in the “Jesus Room” or Sunday School Room #3.

IGNITE

IGNITE is for grades 1-3. The IGNITE age group is encouraged to take steps towards making their faith more personal as they receive their own Bible and learn to trust God’s Word in their daily lives. Investigating the Good News, Inspiring True Examples is what IGNITE is all about. IGNITE meets on Sunday mornings in “Kids Town” or Sunday School Room #1.

IGNITE Events: IGNITE events take place outside of Sunday mornings and are geared to help the kids build friendships with their peers, grow in their faith, and just have a whole lot of fun! IGNITE events have included everything from game nights to movie nights to even capture the flag. IGNITE Club also meets for six weeks in the fall on Thursday evenings as another way for kids to bond, grow and have an outlet for all that energy!

FUEL

FUEL is the age group for grades 4-6 and prepares the kids to be involved in the xplod youth ministry. Kids learn valuable Bible skills while being challenged to ask tough questions and further apply their faith to real life. In FUEL, Faith is Used to Encourage Love as the kids try to follow Jesus example and treat one another with respect. FUEL meets on Sunday mornings downstairs in the FUEL Room.

FUEL events: FUEL events are just like IGNITE events but they happen a little more frequently. They’ve included hay rides, dodge ball battles with the youth and parents, pizza parties, eating ice cream out of rain gutters and much more. FUEL Club also meets during the fall on Thursday afternoons for six straight weeks and gives the kids a chance to bond, bring friends, and even go to The Oasis. FUEL Retreat: one of the highlights of everyone’s summer is FUEL Retreat. This is where we welcome in the new FUEL kids and say goodbye to those moving into seventh grade during a jam-packed week of fun at Delaware Valley Christian Camp. Canoeing, ropes courses, rocking worship, games, staying up late, swimming and hearing lessons from all the leaders and teens in the youth group—it’s guaranteed to be the best week of their summer! FUEL retreat usually takes place either the first or second week of August. This year’s retreat is August 13-16. There’s also a FUEL Winter Retreat held in January.

Other events and programs:

Junior Church: Junior Church happens every Sunday following the Children’s Sermon for all kids up through grade 3. Snack, games, crafts, and more all in an environment that is more comfortable for those with ants in their pants.

NOISE: Noise happens usually on the last Sunday of the month when all the kids up through grade six go downstairs with Will and some of the youth during the junior church time to sing loud and praise Jesus. It’s a half-hour of worship that really works up a sweat! And don’t worry, there’s still snack.

VBS: Vacation Bible School is our annual week of summer fun for kids ages 4 through grade 6. We join forces with St. John’s Lutheran for a week of fun in the sun, crafts, snacks, games, dramas, and plenty of other fun surprises along the way. This year’s VBS, Take the Plunge!, will be held July 23-27 (M-F, 9AM-noon) and registrations are still being accepted, so sign up! [link here to VBS Calendar page]

CORE leadership: None of the above could happen without an amazing volunteer team of teachers and leaders called the CORE. These people have a huge heart for kids and our kids love coming to events and Sunday mornings because of the relationships they build with these awesome people. They’re so awesome that they’re now in the process of writing a curriculum for all of the Sunday School classes that will go through the whole Bible in two years and have every age group dealing with the same basic Bible story. It is our hope that this will promote lots of discussion with the family outside of Sunday School.
